SPECIAL RIVER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH,NC
1139 AM EDT FRI SEP 12 2014

HEAVY RAIN FROM EARLIER THIS WEEK WILL CAUSE THE NEUSE RIVER AT GOLDSBORO
TO CONTINUE RISING SLOWLY THROUGH EARLY THIS WEEKEND. AT 11 AM FRIDAY
MORNING...THE RIVER STAGE WAS 16.5 FEET...1.5 FEET BELOW THE FLOOD STAGE
OF 18 FEET. THE RIVER WILL BE NEAR FLOOD STAGE TOMORROW MORNING...AND COULD
RISE SLIGHTLY ABOVE FLOOD STAGE TOMORROW MORNING AND LINGER THERE FOR MUCH
OF THE WEEKEND. A FLOOD WARNING FOR MINOR FLOODING MAY BE ISSUED LATE TODAY
BASED ON FURTHER ANALYSIS.

REGARDLESS...THE RIVER LEVEL IS ABOVE NORMAL...THUS THE CURRENT WILL ALSO
BE STRONGER THAN NORMAL. IN ADDITION...THE BANKS WILL BE SLIPPERY...SO
CAUTION IS ADVISED FOR PEOPLE PLANNING TO FISH...SWIM...OR RECREATE
ALONG THE RIVER THIS WEEKEND.
