HYDROLOGIC STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ
730 PM MST SAT SEP 27 2014

...ADDITIONAL WATER IS BEING RELEASED OVER GRANITE REEF INTO SALT
RIVER CHANNEL...

AT 730 PM SATURDAY...SALT RIVER PROJECT OFFICIALS ADVISED THAT THEY
WERE RELEASING AN ADDITIONAL 1345 CUBIC FEET PER SECOND (CFS) OF
WATER OVER GRANITE REEF DAM INTO THE SALT RIVER.

THIS FLOW MAY BE SUFFICIENT ALONG WITH ADDITIONAL LOCAL FLOW TO
CAUSE IMPACTS DOWNSTREAM ALONG THE SALT RIVER. THIS COULD AFFECT LOW
WATER GRADE CROSSINGS AT GILBERT AND MCKELLIPS ROADS IN MESA...AS
WELL AS OTHER UNBRIDGED ROAD CROSSINGS DOWNSTREAM.

INCREASES IN THE AMOUNT OF WATER FLOWING DOWNSTREAM OVER GRANITE
REEF DAM COULD OCCUR...SHOULD THERE BE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OR
CHANGES IN RUNOFF...NECESSITATING ADDITIONAL RELEASES BY THE SALT
RIVER PROJECT.

IF YOU HAVE ANY INTERESTS ALONG THE SALT RIVER...ESPECIALLY ALONG
LOW LYING AREAS...TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS...AND REMAIN ALERT FOR
INCREASES IN THE RIVER LEVEL. REMEMBER...BE A SMART MOTORIST AND DO
NOT DRIVE THROUGH WATER OF UNKNOWN DEPTH. THE WATER MAY BE DEEPER
AND STRONGER THAN YOU THINK.
