HYDROLOGIC STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MARQUETTE MI
740 PM EDT MON APR 14 2014

WARMER WEATHER LAST WEEK INCREASED SNOW MELT AND RUNOFF INTO AREA
RIVERS. THIS MELTING...COMBINED WITH ICE COVERED RIVERS...HAS CAUSED
RIVERS TO RISE AND ICE JAM POTENTIAL TO INCREASE ALONG AREA STREAMS
AND TRIBUTARIES. RIVER LEVEL FLUCTUATIONS HAVE BEEN REPORTED OVER
THE PAST FEW DAYS ON THE ESCANABA RIVER IN DELTA COUNTY. SOME ICE
JAMS AND RIVER FLUCTUATIONS ARE LIKELY TO CONTINUE THROUGH TUESDAY.

SAFETY MESSAGE...PEOPLE LIVING OR WALKING ALONG RIVERS IN SOUTH
CENTRAL UPPER MICHIGAN SHOULD REMAIN ALERT AND EXERCISE CAUTION IN
CASE ICE JAMS CAUSE RIVERS TO RISE QUICKLY.

STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR FAVORITE MEDIA OUTLET FOR
FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS AND INFORMATION FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE.
