...RECORD MONTHLY RAINFALL SET AT SIOUX FALLS SOUTH DAKOTA...

RAINFALL FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE 2014 IN SIOUX FALLS SOUTH DAKOTA
TOTALED 13.70 INCHES. THIS BREAKS BY MORE THAN FIVE INCHES THE
PREVIOUS WETTEST JUNE WHICH OCCURRED IN 1984 WITH 8.43 INCHES. JUNE
2014 RAINFALL IN ALSO THE WETTEST MONTH SINCE RECORDS BEGAN IN 1893.
THE PREVIOUS WETTEST MONTH OCCURRED IN MAY 1898 WITH 9.42 INCHES.
THE JUNE TOTAL EXCEEDED THE NORMAL RAINFALL OF 3.92 INCHES BY 9.78
INCHES.

DAILY RAINFALL RECORDS WERE BROKEN ON THE FOLLOWING DATES...

JUNE 1 RAINFALL OF 2.47 INCHES EXCEEDS RECORD 2.14 INCHES IN 1897
JUNE 14 RAINFALL OF 1.97 INCHES EXCEEDS RECORD 1.48 INCHES IN 1899
JUNE 15 RAINFALL OF 2.74 INCHES EXCEEDS RECORD 1.47 INCHES IN 1943

WHILE NOT A DAILY RECORD AN ADDITIONAL 3.00 INCHES FELL ON THE 16TH
FOR A THREE DAY TOTAL OF 7.71 INCHES. THIS IS THE WETTEST THREE DAY
PERIOD ON RECORD EXCEEDING THE 5.70 INCHES THAT FELL FROM MAY 21
THROUGH MAY 23 1936.
