EFFECTIVE TUESDAY, MAY 13, 2014, THE NWS WILL IMPLEMENT RESPONSIVE
WEB DESIGN ENHANCEMENTS TO THE NWS WEBSITE AND ITS RELATED AND
LINKED POINT FORECAST PAGES.

HTTP://WEATHER.GOV

THESE ENHANCEMENTS IMPROVE THE USABILITY OF THESE SITES ON DEVICES
WITH REDUCED SIZE DISPLAYS AND TOUCHSCREEN INTERFACES, SUCH AS
SMARTPHONES AND TABLETS.

USING WEB PAGE TECHNIQUES KNOWN AS RESPONSIVE AND PROGRESSIVE
ENHANCEMENT, USERS OF A BROAD RANGE OF DEVICES SUCH AS SMARTPHONES,
TABLETS AND DESKTOPS, WILL BE ABLE TO USE OUR PAGES MORE EASILY.
NWS WILL PRESERVE BASIC CONTENT AND FUNCTIONALITY  ACROSS THESE
PLATFORMS, WHILE FEATURES REQUIRING MORE DISPLAY AREA ARE
PROGRESSIVELY INTRODUCED FOR LARGER DISPLAYS. A LIVE PREVIEW
OF THESE ENHANCEMENTS, VIEWABLE ON MOBILE AND TABLET DEVICES,
IS ONLINE AT:

 HTTP://PREVIEW.WEATHER.GOV

FOR EXAMPLE, ACCESS TO LOCAL FORECASTS IS PROVIDED VIA AN EASILY
USABLE CITY, STATE OR ZIP CODE LOOKUP BOX. IN ADDITION, THESE
ALLOW USERS TO NAVIGATE NAVIGATION MENUS ON TOUCH SCREEN DEVICES.
