PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA
442 PM EDT SAT AUG 9 2014

...PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT...

A NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STORM SURVEY TEAM INVESTIGATED AN AREA
OVER NORTHERN COBB AND SOUTHERN CHEROKEE COUNTIES WHERE DOPPLER
RADAR HAD INDICATED POSSIBLE ROTATION INDICATIVE OF A TORNADO ON
THE AFTERNOON OF AUGUST 8TH. ALTHOUGH THE STORM SURVEY TEAM DID
FIND ISOLATED WIND DAMAGE OVER A WIDE AREA...NO DISCERNIBLE PATH
WAS PRESENT TO INDICATE A TORNADO HAD MOVED THROUGH. SEVERAL TREES
WERE NOTED DOWN BUT ENCOMPASSED A WIDE AREA AND LIKELY THE RESULT
OF THE OVERALL STRONG STRAIGHT LINE WINDS THAT WERE COMMON WITH
THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OF THAT DAY.
