...DALLAS/FORT WORTH CLIMATE NARRATIVE FOR JULY 2014...

ON JULY 13...DFW AIRPORT HIT 100 DEGREES FOR THIS FIRST TIME THIS
YEAR. THERE WERE 5 TRIPLE-DIGIT HIGHS DURING THE MONTH...BUT THERE
WERE JUST AS MANY LOWS IN THE 60S. THREE OF THOSE COOL MORNINGS WERE
RECORD LOWS...JULY 18-20. FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1938...THE
MERCURY STAYED BELOW 80 DEGREES FOR 3 CONSECUTIVE DAYS DURING JULY.
ONLY JULY 1905 HAD MORE DAYS WITH HIGHS IN THE 70S.

EVERY MONTHLY PRECIPITATION TOTAL AT DFW AIRPORT THIS YEAR HAS BEEN
BELOW NORMAL. THE YEAR-TO-DATE TOTAL THROUGH THE END OF JULY WAS
AMONG THE DRIEST ON RECORD.

THE DALLAS/FORT WORTH METROPLEX TALLIED LESS THAN AN INCH...BUT IN
NORTHERN DENTON AND SOUTHERN COOKE COUNTIES...MONTHLY TOTALS WERE
OVER 15 INCHES.
