AVERAGES WITH MORE THAN HALF THE MONTH TO GO...

A PAIR OF WEAK TROPICAL WAVES COMBINED WITH A DISSIPATING COLD
FRONT ACROSS THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY DUMPED WIDESPREAD HEAVY
RAINFALL FROM EARLY FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 12 THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY
SEPTEMBER 14TH. RAINFALL TOTALS GENERALLY RANGED FROM 3 TO 5
INCHES VALLEY WIDE...WITH SOME SPOTS NEAR MISSION RECEIVING NEARLY
7 INCHES. THE RAINFALL...COMBINED WITH EARLIER RAINS FROM
SEPTEMBER 2-4...BROUGHT MONTHLY TOTALS BETWEEN 5 AND 9 INCHES
ACROSS THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY. TOTAL MONTHLY AVERAGES TYPICALLY
RANGE FROM 4 TO 6 INCHES THUS THE MONTH IS NOW CONSIDERED ABOVE
NORMAL EVEN IF IT FAILS TO RAIN AGAIN.
