AS OF 11 AM MONDAY...THE TEMPERATURE AT THE BETHEL AIRPORT
HAS FALLEN TO THE LOWEST POINT SO FAR THIS WINTER WITH A
TEMPERATURE OF -7 F.

LOOKING AT THE RECORDS FOR THE BETHEL AIRPORT FOR
METEOROLOGICAL WINTER /DEFINED AS DECEMBER 1ST THROUGH
FEBRUARY 28TH/...ONLY THE WINTER OF 1978-1979 HAD A WARMER
LOW TEMPERATURE TO DATE /-5 ON CHRISTMAS DAY 1978/.

CLIMATE DATA THROUGH 12 AM ON JANUARY 18TH SHOWS THAT TO DATE
THE 2014-2015 WINTER IN BETHEL IS CURRENTLY RANKED AS THE 4TH
WARMEST ON RECORD WITH A MEAN TEMPERATURE OF 18.7 F. THE WARMEST
ON RECORD FOR THIS PERIOD /DECEMBER 1ST THROUGH MIDNIGHT JANUARY
18TH/ WAS THE WINTER OF 1978-1979 WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
OF 22.6 F.
