A SHORT-LIVED TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN DALTON...MASSACHUSETTS ON
SUNDAY...JULY 27...2014. THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN GREENRIDGE
PARK ALONG SOUTH STREET AND MOVED SOUTHEAST UP A HILL AND ENDED
BEHIND RESIDENCES ALONG LINDSAY DRIVE. THE TORNADO ALMOST
COMPLETELY CLEAR CUT A PATH THROUGH THE FOREST THAT WAS 10 TO 20
YARDS WIDE...LEAVING A NOTICEABLE TRAIL. A MICROBURST CAUSED MOST
OF THE DAMAGE IN THE SUBDIVISIONS TO THE NORTH...WEST AND
SOUTHWEST OF THE TORNADO TRACK. THE MICROBURST STRAIGHT LINE WINDS
MOVED FROM NORTH NORTHEAST TO SOUTH SOUTHWEST. DIRECT DAMAGE FROM
THE MICROBURST WAS MOSTLY TO HARDWOOD AND SOFTWOOD
TREES...ALTHOUGH ONE HOUSE HAD PART OF ITS ROOF LIFTED UP. THE
AREA AFFECTED BY THE MICROBURST WAS LARGE AND BOUNDED BY RICHARD
DRIVE AND HUBBARD AVENUE TO THE NORTH AND LINDSAY DRIVE...PLEASANT
VIEW DRIVE AND HUBBARD AVE TO THE SOUTH.
