..STRONG TO POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS TODAY FOR PORTIONS OF NEW
MEXICO...

.STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS ALOFT COMBINED WITH RAPIDLY DEEPENING LOW
PRESSURE OVER EASTERN NEW MEXICO WILL SET UP A VERY WINDY DAY
TODAY FOR CENTRAL AND WESTERN NEW MEXICO. EXPECT THE STRONGEST
WINDS OVER THE SANDIA AND MANZANO MOUNTAINS AND CENTRAL HIGHLANDS.
WINDY CONDITIONS WILL TAPER OFF LATE THIS AFTERNOON THEN MUCH
COLDER AIR WILL FILTER INTO THE AREA. IMPACTS FROM WIND WILL THEN
TRANSITION TO SNOW WITHIN THE HIGH PLAINS THIS EVENING.

WIND WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST THIS AFTERNOON.
THE HIGH WIND WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* LOCATION...THE SANDIA/MANZANO MOUNTAINS...THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS
  AND GUADALUPE COUNTY.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 35 TO 45 MPH WITH GUSTS NEAR 65 MPH.

* TIMING...STRONG WINDS WILL RAMP UP QUICKLY THIS MORNING...PEAK
  DURING THE MID TO LATE AFTERNOON HOURS...AND TAPER OFF DURING
  THE EARLY EVENING.

* VISIBILITY...NO WIDESPREAD REDUCTIONS ARE EXPECTED.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...STRONG CROSS WINDS WILL BE HAZARDOUS FOR LARGE
  AND HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES...AND POTENTIALLY CREATE DAMAGE TO
  WEAKENED AND LIGHT WEIGHT STRUCTURES...POWER LINES...TREES...
  AND CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS. TRAVEL ALONG INTERSTATE 40 AND

* TIMING...WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS MORNING...PEAK DURING THE MID
  TO LATE AFTERNOON...THEN TAPER OFF EARLY THIS EVENING.

* VISIBILITY...NO WIDESPREAD REDUCTIONS ARE EXPECTED.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...STRONG CROSS WINDS WILL BE A NUISANCE FOR HIGH
  PROFILE AND LARGE VEHICLES. CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS AND OTHER
  LIGHT WEIGHT OBJECTS WILL BE BLOWN AROUND.
