GULF WATERS FROM EAST CAPE SABLE TO CHOKOLOSKEE 20 TO 60 NM OUT AND
BEYOND 5 FATHOMS-

...THUNDERSTORMS WITH GUSTY WINDS OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO...

AT 6 PM...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE FOUND ACROSS THE
SOUTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO. THE HEAVIEST ACTIVITY WAS LOCATED
APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES NORTH OF NEW GROUND ROCKS LIGHT. MOTION OF
THESE STORMS WAS TOWARDS THE SOUTH-SOUTHEAST AT 15 TO 20 KNOTS.

THROUGH 8 PM...MARINERS SHOULD PREPARE FOR WIND GUSTS UP TO 30 KNOTS
IN AND AROUND THE VICINITY OF THESE STORMS...LOCALLY ROUGH
SEAS...BLINDING DOWNPOURS...AND OCCASIONAL LIGHTNING STRIKES.

THUNDERSTORMS POSE A VARIETY OF THREATS TO BOATER SAFETY FROM BOTH
GUSTY WINDS AND LIGHTNING. YOUR BEST COURSE OF ACTION DURING
THUNDERSTORMS IS TO SEEK SAFE HARBOR...BUT IF YOU ARE CAUGHT ON THE
OPEN WATER...STAY BELOW DECK...IF POSSIBLE...AND AWAY FROM UNGROUNDED
METAL OBJECTS.
