...CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS HOLIDAY WEATHER IN THE 21ST CENTURY...

SOUTHEAST TEXAS HAS EXPERIENCED WARM AND COLD CHRISTMAS AND NEW
YEARS HOLIDAYS IN THE 21ST CENTURY. OF NOTE WAS THE COLD AND SNOWY
CHRISTMAS EVE AND DAY IN 2004. EVEN THOUGH THE TWO HOLIDAYS FALL
JUST AFTER THE START OF WINTER...TEMPERATURES HAVE VARIED WIDELY
FROM YEAR-TO-YEAR AND HAVE RANGED FROM BALMY 70-DEGREE WEATHER TO
NEAR AND BELOW FREEZING CONDITIONS.

THE ONLY SNOWFALL WHICH FELL ON THE 24TH OR 25TH OF DECEMBER AT
THE MAJOR CLIMATE SITES OCCURRED IN 2004. AS A MATTER OF FACT...
THIS IS THE ONLY CHRISTMAS EVE AND DAY SNOW EVER RECORDED AT ANY
OF THE FOUR FIRST-ORDER SITES. SNOWFALL TOTALS ARE GIVEN IN THE
TABLE BELOW.
