ECC029-241630-
LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST-
DISCUSSION FOR...VANDENBERG ECC DISPATCH
321 PM PDT TUE SEP 23 2014

...DISCUSSION FROM LOS ANGELES/OXNARD...

...ISOLATED CRITICAL CONDITIONS WITH SINGLE DIGIT HUMIDITIES IN THE
MOUNTAINS THROUGH THURSDAY...

A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO DOMINATE THE WEATHER
PATTERN THROUGH THURSDAY WITH WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS. HUMIDITIES
ARE EXPECTED TO LOWER AWAY FROM THE COAST INTO WEDNESDAY...WITH MANY
VALLEYS EXPERIENCING MINIMUM HUMIDITIES INTO TEENS. IN THE
MOUNTAINS...HUMIDITIES ARE EXPECTED TO LOWER WELL INTO THE SINGLE
DIGITS...WITH VERY POOR OVERNIGHT RECOVERIES THROUGH WEDNESDAY
NIGHT. TYPICAL ONSHORE BREEZES WILL CONTINUE...BUT MOUNTAIN AREAS
WILL SEE INCREASED SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW ON WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY.
THIS WILL LEAD TO BRIEF CRITICAL CONDITIONS OVER SEVERAL MOUNTAIN
LOCATIONS...WITH ONE OR TWO ISOLATED SPOTS POSSIBLY HITTING RED FLAG
DURATIONS. THE HIGHWAY 14 CORRIDOR WILL ESPECIALLY BE CLOSE TO
CRITICAL. SOME IMPROVEMENT IS EXPECTED ON THURSDAY.

A LARGE UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL PUSH INTO NORTHER
CALIFORNIA ON WEDNESDAY...BUT NOT AFFECT CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA UNTIL FRIDAY. WHILE LITTLE TO NO RAIN IS EXPECTED...MUCH
COOLER AND MOISTER CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY THROUGH THE WEEKEND. BREEZY
NORTHWESTERLY WINDS ARE LIKELY THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY THROUGH
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY...WITH GUSTY SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW OVER MOST
MOUNTAINS. WEAK TO MODERATE OFFSHORE FLOW SHOULD FOLLOW EARLY TO
MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK.

...DISCUSSION FROM MONTEREY...

QUIET WEATHER WILL CONTINUE THIS EVENING WITH LIGHT ONSHORE WINDS
AND MODERATE TO GOOD NIGHT TIME HUMIDITY RECOVERY. ON WEDNESDAY
WINDS WILL TURN MORE SOUTHERLY...ESPECIALLY IN THE NORTH BAY AS A
FRONT APPROACHES FAR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. LIGHT RAIN WILL DEVELOP IN
THE NORTH BAY AS EARLY AS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND THEN SLOWLY DRIFT
SOUTHWARD TOWARDS THE GOLDEN GATE OVERNIGHT. SOME LIGHT RAIN WILL
FALL FROM SAN FRANCISCO TO MONTEREY ON THURSDAY MORNING BUT RAIN
AMOUNTS WILL BE VERY LIGHT WITH LITTLE OR NO RAIN ACROSS SAN BENITO
AND INTERIOR MONTEREY COUNTY. BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES WILL LINGER
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WITH AN UPPER LOW OVER THE REGION...THEN WARMING
AND DRYING AS HIGH PRESSURE REBUILDS. THE LONG RANGE FORECAST FOR
NEXT WEEK LOOKS WARM AND DRY WITH PERIODS OF AT LEAST LIGHT OFFSHORE
WINDS.

NOTE : ALL WINDS ARE 20-FOOT WINDS UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED.
THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY STRONG, GUSTY AND ERRATIC WINDS.
