THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A

* SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
  KNOX COUNTY IN NORTHEAST MISSOURI...

* UNTIL 530 PM CDT

* AT 230 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA. DOPPLER
  RADAR ESTIMATED BETWEEN 2 AND 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER
  NORTHWEST KNOX COUNTY SINCE 130 PM.  THE KNOX COUNTY SHERIFFS
  OFFICE REPORTS THAT 5 TO 6 INCHES OF WATER IS COVERING PARTS OF
  HIGHWAY 15 NORTHWEST OF BARING.

  THE NORTH-SOUTH LINE OF STORMS EXTENDS FROM RUTLEDGE TO NEAR
  NOVELTY AND IS DRIFTING TO THE EAST...SO WHILE THE RAIN WILL BE
  EXTREMELY HEAVY IT SHOULD NOT LAST A LONG PERIOD OF TIME.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING TO
  OCCUR...ESPECIALLY ALONG SMALL STREAMS AND NEAR LOW WATER
  CROSSINGS. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE MINOR FLOODING
  INCLUDE...EDINA...COLONY...GREENSBURG...KNOX CITY AND PLEVNA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY MEANS RIVER OR STREAM FLOWS ARE
ELEVATED OR PONDING OF WATER IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.  MOTORISTS
ARE REMINDED TO SLOW DOWN WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD...OR WHEN
APPROACHING AREAS THAT ARE KNOWN TO HAVE STANDING WATER DURING TIMES
OF HEAVY RAIN.
