...HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND NORTHWEST
OREGON THIS WEEKEND...

A STRONG AND VERY MOIST PACIFIC FRONTAL SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO
IMPACT SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND NORTHWEST OREGON THIS WEEKEND...
BRINGING PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN TO THE REGION.

A WARM FRONT WILL BEGIN TO SPREAD RAIN ACROSS THE AREA LATER
TONIGHT AND SATURDAY. RAIN IS EXPECTED TO BE HEAVY AT TIMES
SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING BEFORE TAPERING TO SHOWERS AFTER A
COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. RAINFALL TOTALS
THIS WEEKEND ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM ONE AND A HALF TO TWO AND
A HALF INCHES IN THE INTERIOR VALLEYS...2 TO 4 INCHES IN COASTAL
AREAS AND THE NORTH OREGON CASCADES...AND 3 TO 6 INCHES IN THE
COAST RANGE...WILLAPA HILLS...AND SOUTH WASHINGTON CASCADES.

SNOW LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO BE WELL ABOVE THE CASCADE PASSES
DURING THE MAJORITY OF THIS EVENT...SO SIGNIFICANT RISES ARE
EXPECTED ON MOST RIVERS AND STREAMS IN SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND
NORTHWEST OREGON. MINOR FLOODING IS POSSIBLE ON SOME OF THE MORE
RESPONSIVE RIVERS AND SMALL STREAMS...SUCH AS THE GRAYS RIVER IN
WAHKIAKUM COUNTY AND JOHNSON CREEK IN SOUTHEAST PORTLAND.
ADDITIONALLY...HEAVY RAINFALL MAY RESULT IN MINOR URBAN FLOODING
IN AREAS OF POOR DRAINAGE.
