SHREVEPORT RECORDED NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND BELOW NORMAL RAINFALL
FOR THIS AUGUST OF 2014.  THIS AUGUST PROVIDED OBSERVED CONDITIONS
AS TYPICAL OF SHREVEPORT...NORMALLY THE WARMEST AND DRIEST MONTH OF
THE YEAR WITH NO FLOODING OR SEVERE WEATHER OBSERVED.

AUGUST OF 2014 DID PROVIDE ONE SIGNICANT HIGHLIGHT BY KICKING OFF
THE MONTH WITH A MONTHLY COOLEST HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORD.  THE DAILY
HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR AUGUST 1ST ONLY REACHED 73 DEGREES...AND BROKE
THE DAILY COOLEST HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORD OF 79 DEGREES SET DURING
1925.  THIS 73 DEGREES FOR A HIGH ALSO ESTABLISHED A NEW MONTHLY
COOLEST HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR AUGUST AS WELL.  THE OLD RECORDS OF 74
DEGREES WERE SET DURING THE FOLLOWING DATES...AUGUST 9 OF
1879...AUGUST 4 OF 1894...AUGUST 31 OF 1915...AUGUST 9 OF 1940...AND
AUGUST 31 OF 1950.

FOR THE SUMMER OF 2014...SHREVEPORT OBSERVED AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
OF 81.3 DEGREES...THE NORMAL SUMMERTIME AVERAGE IS 82.0 DEGREES.
SHREVEPORT TALLIED 7.92 INCHES OF RAINFALL...NORMAL SUMMERTIME
RAINFALL IS 11.78 INCHES.
