.OCTOBER 2014 WAS WARMER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL AT DULUTH MN...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR OCTOBER WAS 44.8 DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.6
DEGREES WARMER THAN THE NORMAL OF 43.2 DEGREES TYING THIS FOR THE
68TH WARMEST OCTOBER IN STATION HISTORY. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR
THE MONTH WAS 69 DEGREES ON THE 24TH. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS 23
DEGREES ON THE 11TH. NO DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET FOR THE
MONTH.

OCTOBER 2014 WAS DRIER THAN NORMAL WITH A TOTAL OF 1.80 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION RECORDED FOR THE MONTH. THIS WAS 1.05 INCHES BELOW THE
NORMAL OF 2.85 INCHES MAKING THIS THE 58TH DRIEST OCTOBER IN
RECORDED HISTORY. THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF PRECIPITATION IN A 24 HOUR
PERIOD OCCURRED ON THE 1ST WHEN 0.64 INCHES WAS RECORDED. AT LEAST A
TRACE OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED ON 13 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.01 INCH
OF PRECIPITATION FELL ON 11 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.10 INCHES FELL ON 4
DAYS. AT LEAST 0.50 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED ON 1 DAY.
0.1 INCHES OF SNOW FELL FOR THE MONTH WHICH WAS 2.2 INCHES BELOW THE
NORMAL OF 2.3 INCHES. THIS WAS TIED FOR THE 46TH LEAST SNOWIEST
OCTOBER IN STATION HISTORY. TWO DAILY SNOWFALL RECORDS WERE TIED FOR
THE MONTH. A TRACE OF SNOW FELL ON THE 3RD TYING THE OLD RECORD SET
IN 1970. A TRACE OF SNOW FELL ON THE 4TH TYING THE OLD RECORD SET IN
2012.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE MONTH WAS 10.1 MPH. THE WINDIEST DAY
FOR THE MONTH WAS ON THE 4TH WITH AN AVERAGE WIND SPEED OF 15.9 MPH.
THE HIGHEST SUSTAINED WINDS OCCURRED ON THE 7TH WITH A WIND FROM THE
WEST AT 30 MPH AND ON THE 28TH WITH A WIND FROM THE WEST AT 30 MPH. A
PEAK GUST OF 44 MPH FROM THE WEST WAS RECORDED ON THE 7TH. THERE
WERE 622 HEATING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE MONTH WHICH WAS 56 BELOW THE
NORMAL OF 678. THIS BROUGHT THE SEASONAL TOTAL TO 926 WHICH WAS 199
BELOW THE NORMAL OF 1125. THERE WERE 0 COOLING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE
MONTH WHICH WAS NORMAL. THE SEASONAL TOTAL COOLING DEGREE DAYS
REMAIN AT 179 WHICH IS 25 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 204. THE
HIGHEST BAROMETRIC PRESSURE READING FOR THE MONTH WAS 30.60 INCHES
REACHED ON THE 31ST AND THE LOWEST BAROMETRIC PRESSURE READING WAS
29.33 INCHES REACHED ON THE 6TH.

THE OUTLOOK FOR NOVEMBER...NORMAL HIGHS FOR THE MONTH START IN THE
MID 40S AND COOL TO THE UPPER 20S AT THE END OF THE MONTH. NORMAL
LOWS FOR THE MONTH START IN THE UPPER 20S AND COOL TO THE MID TEENS
AT THE END OF THE MONTH. NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR NOVEMBER IS 2.09
INCHES. NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR NOVEMBER IS 13.7 INCHES. ABOVE NORMAL
TEMPERATURES AND NEAR NORMAL PRECIPITATION ARE FORECASTED FOR
NOVEMBER.
