.SEPTEMBER 2014 WAS WARMER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL AT DULUTH MN...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR SEPTEMBER WAS 57.4 DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.8
DEGREES WARMER THAN THE NORMAL OF 55.6 DEGREES TYING THIS FOR THE
34TH WARMEST SEPTEMBER IN STATION HISTORY. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 81 DEGREES ON THE 28TH. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS
34 DEGREES ON THE 12TH AND 13TH. ONE DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORD WAS
SET FOR THE MONTH. A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 81 DEGREES WAS
RECORDED ON THE 28TH BREAKING THE OLD RECORD OF 79 DEGREES SET IN
1956 AND 1898.

SEPTEMBER 2014 WAS DRIER THAN NORMAL WITH A TOTAL OF 1.64 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION RECORDED FOR THE MONTH. THIS WAS 2.47 INCHES BELOW THE
NORMAL OF 4.11 INCHES MAKING THIS THE 28TH DRIEST SEPTEMBER IN
RECORDED HISTORY. THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF PRECIPITATION IN A 24 HOUR
PERIOD OCCURRED ON THE 20TH THROUGH THE 21ST WHEN 0.61 INCHES WAS
RECORDED. AT LEAST A TRACE OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED ON 14 DAYS.
AT LEAST 0.01 INCH OF PRECIPITATION FELL ON 11 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.10
INCHES FELL ON 6 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.50 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS
RECORDED ON 1 DAY. NO SNOW FELL FOR THE MONTH WHICH WAS 0.1 INCHES
BELOW THE NORMAL OF 0.1 INCHES. THIS WAS TIED FOR THE LEAST SNOWIEST
SEPTEMBER IN STATION HISTORY. NO DAILY PRECIPITATION OR SNOWFALL
RECORDS WERE BROKE FOR THE MONTH.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE MONTH WAS 10.0 MPH. THE WINDIEST DAY
FOR THE MONTH WAS ON THE 31ST WITH AN AVERAGE WIND SPEED OF 14.5 MPH.
THE HIGHEST SUSTAINED WINDS OCCURRED ON THE 4TH WITH A WIND FROM THE
NORTHEAST AT 30 MPH. A PEAK GUST OF 38 MPH FROM THE EAST WAS
RECORDED ON THE 4TH. THERE WERE 227 HEATING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE MONTH
WHICH WAS 71 BELOW THE NORMAL OF 298. THIS BROUGHT THE SEASONAL
TOTAL TO 304 WHICH WAS 143 BELOW THE NORMAL OF 447. THERE WERE 9
COOLING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE MONTH WHICH WAS 5 DEGREES BELOW THE
NORMAL OF 14. THE SEASONAL TOTAL COOLING DEGREE DAYS IS 179 WHICH IS
25 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 204. THE HIGHEST BAROMETRIC PRESSURE
READING FOR THE MONTH WAS 30.46 INCHES REACHED ON THE 12TH AND THE
LOWEST BAROMETRIC PRESSURE READING WAS 29.58 INCHES REACHED ON THE
20TH.

THE OUTLOOK FOR OCTOBER...NORMAL HIGHS FOR THE MONTH START IN THE
UPPER 50S AND COOL TO THE MID 40S AT THE END OF THE MONTH. NORMAL
LOWS FOR THE MONTH START AT 40 DEGREES AND COOL TO 30 DEGREES AT THE
END OF THE MONTH. NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR OCTOBER IS 2.85 INCHES.
NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR OCTOBER IS 2.3 INCHES. BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES
AND ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION ARE FORECASTED FOR OCTOBER.
