URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
COASTAL HAZARD MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAY ME
100 PM EST MON JAN 26 2015

...A STRONG NOR`EASTER WILL AFFECT THE AREA TONIGHT AND
TUESDAY WITH LINGERING EFFECTS TUESDAY NIGHT...

.LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE TOWARDS CAPE COD TONIGHT. STRONG...STORM
FORCE NORTHEASTERLY WINDS WILL RAPIDLY INCREASE AFTER MIDNIGHT OVER
THE COASTAL WATERS. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR NEARSHORE WAVES TO
RAPIDLY BUILD INTO THE 10 TO 15 FOOT RANGE BY THE TIME WE REACH
HIGH TIDE LATER TONIGHT...WHICH IS ABOUT 430 AM IN PORTLAND. THE
LARGE WAVES...IN COMBINATION WITH ABOUT A TWO FOOT STORM SURGE
WILL ALLOW THE STORM TIDES TO REACH THEIR 12 FOOT FLOOD STAGE IN
PORTLAND...MAINE AND 11 FOOT FLOOD STAGE IN HAMPTON...NEW
HAMPSHIRE LATER TONIGHT.

FOR THE TUESDAY AFTERNOON`S HIGH TIDE...NEARSHORE WAVES WILL
CONTINUE TO INCREASE TO AROUND 20 FEET. HOWEVER...STORM TIDES WILL
NOT BE A HIGH AS THE TUESDAY MORNING TIDE DUE TO WINDS SHIFTING TO
THE NORTH. NEVERTHELESS...BOTH THE TUESDAY MORNING AND TUESDAY
AFTERNOON HIGH TIDES WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY MINOR COASTAL
FLOODING...MODERATE SPLASH-OVER AND BEACH EROSION.

THE MOST VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES WILL BE NORTHEAST FACING BEACHES
ALONG COASTAL YORK AND COASTAL ROCKINGHAM COUNTIES WHICH WILL BE
EXPOSED TO LARGE...BATTERING WAVES.

WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 6 PM EST TUESDAY. THE
COASTAL FLOOD WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* LOCATION...COASTAL CUMBERLAND...COASTAL YORK AND COASTAL
  ROCKINGHAM COUNTIES.

* IMPACTS...MINOR COASTAL FLOODING AND MODERATE SPLASHOVER AND
  BEACH EROSION ARE LIKELY AROUND HIGH TIDE.

* TIMING...WITHIN A COUPLE HOURS EITHER SIDE OF HIGH TIDES AROUND
  430 AM AND AROUND 530 PM TUESDAY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR
IMMINENT. COASTAL RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD BE ALERT
FOR RISING WATER...AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO PROTECT LIFE
AND PROPERTY.

* IMPACT...SOME SPLASH-OVER AND EROSION NEAR THE TIMES OF HIGH
  TIDE LATE TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

* TIMING...WITHIN A COUPLE HOURS EITHER SIDE OF HIGH TIDES AROUND
  430 AM AND 500 PM TUESDAY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.
