...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...

* HIGH WAVE ACTION...STRONG CURRENTS...AND DANGEROUS SWIMMING
  CONDITIONS EXPECTED.

* RIP CURRENTS...POSSIBLE.

* LOCATION...BEACHES FROM MANISTEE TO THE NORTHERN TIP OF THE
  LEELANAU PENINSULA.

* OVERVIEW/POTENTIAL IMPACTS...SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH
  THROUGH THIS EVENING...COMBINED WITH WAVES OF 2 TO 5 FEET. THIS MAY
  ALLOW FOR THE FORMATION OF RIP CURRENTS AT ANY TIME ALONG THE
  BEACHES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE...WHICH OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN
SANDBARS. RIP CURRENTS CAN SWEEP YOU INTO DEEPER WATER.
