THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN
ILLINOIS...SOUTHWEST INDIANA...WESTERN KENTUCKY...AND SOUTHEAST
MISSOURI.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT. AFTERNOON HEAT INDICES WILL CLIMB TO
BETWEEN 100 AND 105 DEGREES FOR MOST LOCALES THIS
AFTERNOON...ALTHOUGH CERTAINLY A HIGHER HEAT INDEX READING IS A
POSSIBILITY FOR AN ISOLATED LOCALE.

ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IF AND WHERE THEY OCCUR ARE NOT EXPECTED TO
PRODUCE WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER...BUT COULD PRODUCE LOCALLY
HEAVY RAIN OR LIGHTNING...AND MAY CONTAIN A STRONG WIND GUST.
ALSO...AND THIS IS AN UNUSUAL HAZARD...BUT A BRIEF FLUX OF MOISTURE
FROM A RAIN PRODUCING THUNDERSTORM...FOLLOWED BY A CLEAR OUT AND
HEAT UP AGAIN...COULD ACTUALLY CAUSE A SPIKE IN THE HEAT INDEX
EVEN HIGHER THAN 105.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

A PROLONGED PERIOD OF EXCESSIVE HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL CONTINUE
FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY. AFTERNOON HEAT INDICES WILL AVERAGE IN
THE 100 TO 105 RANGE...ALTHOUGH ISOLATED HIGHER THAN 105 READINGS
WILL BE POSSIBLE AT TIMES. THE HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT
THROUGH TUESDAY. THIS IS AN ESPECIALLY PROLONGED PERIOD OF
EXCESSIVE HEAT THAT WILL BE PRODUCING A HAZARD FOR OUTSIDE
ACTIVITIES RANGING FROM HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS TO ONGOING STATE FAIRS
AND FESTIVALS.

THE BEST CHANCE FOR A BREAK IN THE HEAT IS NEXT WEDNESDAY...WHEN A
DEVELOPING WEATHER SYSTEM BRINGS IN OUR NEXT BEST CHANCE OF
STORMS. THE PRIMARY STORM HAZARDS WILL BE LIGHTNING AND HEAVY
RAIN. SMALLER CHANCES OF STORMS AND THEIR ASSOCIATED HAZARDS EXIST
TUESDAY AS WELL.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME.
