SURF ZONE FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TALLAHASSEE FL
437 AM EDT MON AUG 25 2014

...HIGHER SURF ALONG THE FRANKLIN AND WALTON COUNTY COASTLINES
TODAY AND TUESDAY...LEADING TO AT LEAST MODERATE (AND POSSIBLE
HIGH) RISK CONDITIONS FOR RIP CURRENTS...

.THE SURF ZONE FORECAST GENERAL OUTLOOK...

A FAIRLY STRONG BACKDOOR COLD FRONT HAS PUSHED SOUTHEASTWARD
THROUGH THE COASTAL WATERS THIS MORNING...AND THIS WILL RESULT IN
STRONG EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS AT THE AREA BEACHES TODAY. ALTHOUGH
WE DECIDED ON ISSUING A MODERATE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS FOR ALL OF
THE AREA BEACHES...SURF HEIGHTS OF 2 TO 3 FEET ARE LIKELY AT BOTH
THE WALTON AND FRANKLIN COUNTY SHORES BOTH TODAY AND TUESDAY.
THEREFORE...EVEN THOUGH WINDS WILL GENERALLY BE OFFSHORE TO AT
TIMES NEAR PARALLEL AT THESE BEACHES...SURF HEIGHTS THIS HIGH MAY
PROMPT THE ISSUANCE OF RED FLAGS BY THE BEACH PATROL...SO AN
UPGRADE TO A HIGH RISK CANNOT BE RULED OUT AT THIS TIME. BREAKING SURF
HEIGHTS WILL BE SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER AT BOTH BAY AND GULF COUNTIES.

WATER TEMPERATURE:
83 DEGREES AT PANAMA CITY BEACH.
86 DEGREES AT THE FSU COASTAL AND MARINE LAB NEAR APALACHICOLA.
