SURF ZONE FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TALLAHASSEE FL
516 AM EDT TUE AUG 26 2014

...A MODERATE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE
BEACHES OF THE FLORIDA BIG BEND AND PANHANDLE TODAY AND
WEDNESDAY...WITH THE HIGHEST BREAKERS AND GREATEST RISK OF RIP
CURRENTS STILL EXPECTED ALONG THE FRANKLIN AND WALTON COUNTY
COASTLINES...

.THE SURF ZONE FORECAST GENERAL OUTLOOK...

FAIRLY STRONG NORTHEAST TO EASTERLY WINDS ARE CONTINUING ACROSS
THE NEARSHORE WATERS CLOSE TO THE BEACHES THIS MORNING...AND THIS
IS LIKELY TO GENERATE SURF HEIGHTS OF 2 TO 3 FEET ONCE AGAIN TODAY
AT BOTH THE WALTON AND FRANKLIN COUNTY BEACHES. ON WEDNESDAY...AS
THE WINDS BEGIN TO VEER AROUND TO THE SOUTHEAST AND WEAKEN IN THE
AFTERNOON...A MORE UNIFORM 1 TO 2 FOOT SURF HEIGHT RANGE IS NOW
EXPECTED ALL ALONG THE FLORIDA BIG BEND AND PANHANDLE BEACHES.
THEREFORE...BELIEVE OUR BEST FORECAST IS FOR A MODERATE RISK OF
RIP CURRENTS EACH DAY...WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF AN UPGRADE AT
FRANKLIN OR WALTON COUNTIES THIS AFTERNOON.

WATER TEMPERATURE:
83 DEGREES AT PANAMA CITY BEACH.
85 DEGREES AT THE FSU COASTAL AND MARINE LAB NEAR APALACHICOLA.
