AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TALLAHASSEE FL
907 PM EDT Sat Jun 15 2013
.NEAR TERM [Tonight]...
-- Changed Discussion --
High pressure remains centered off to the northeast of the region
with a locally dry airmass in place across the area tonight.
Thunderstorms are ongoing across West Central Florida and the
outflow from these storms are pushing into the Eastern Gulf and
will likely initiate some offshore convection in the marine area
overnight and possibly nearing the Florida Panhandle before
sunrise. Low end pops seem to handle this scenario well. As far as
temperatures go, with some of the drier air surging in over the
last 36 hours, overnight lows will be a little cooler than
previous nights with values generally in the upper 60s to lower 70s.-- End Changed Discussion --
&&
.SHORT TERM [Sunday Through Monday Night]...
-- Changed Discussion --
The flow is expected to veer to a more southerly direction on Sunday
with some increase in moisture. Thus, PoPs are expected to be a bit
higher than today, but still only on the order of 30% for most
areas, with a few areas near 40%. A similar scenario is expected for
Monday, with the highest PoPs (still on the order of 40%) placed in
the northern portions of the forecast area as a weak shortwave
passes by to the north.-- End Changed Discussion --
&&
.LONG TERM [Tuesday through Saturday]...
-- Changed Discussion --
A fairly seasonal period is expected with scattered afternoon and
evening convection each day. Temperatures are expected to remain
near their seasonal averages.-- End Changed Discussion --

.AVIATION [Through 00z Monday]...
-- Changed Discussion --
VFR conditions are expected to prevail across the region for this
TAF cycle. There is some possibility for a few hours of MVFR
ceilings overnight. However, we were not confident enough to
introduce lower ceilings and simply indicate some scattered clouds
around 1500 ft. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop
Sunday afternoon. However, coverage will be to low to justify
anything more than a vicinity thunderstorm in this forecast.-- End Changed Discussion --
&&
.MARINE...
Easterly winds are expected to surge to near cautionary levels east
of Apalachicola tonight and diminish by late morning on Sunday.
Winds and seas are then expected to remain low through the middle of
next week.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
RH will generally remain above 40%; red flag conditions not expected.
&&
.HYDROLOGY...
River gages are expected to remain below flood stage for at least
the next several days.
