THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST NORTH
CAROLINA...EAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT...

A STRONG STORM SYSTEM WILL AFFECT THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS AND
TENNESSEE VALLEY TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING. MUCH OF THE
PRECIPITATION WILL BE RAIN...BUT THERE MAY BE A BIT OF SNOW AND OR
SLEET AT THE ONSET ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE NORTH AND HIGHER
ELEVATIONS. THE RAIN MAY MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO SNOW LATER TONIGHT
ESPECIALLY OVER THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU...SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA...AND
THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE EAST TENNESSEE MOUNTAINS...WITH SOME
MINOR SNOW ACCUMULATIONS POSSIBLE.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...

THERE STILL MAY BE SOME SNOW LINGERING INTO SATURDAY MORNING
ESPECIALLY ACROSS SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA AND THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF
THE EAST TENNESSEE MOUNTAINS...WITH SOME MINOR SNOW ACCUMULATIONS
POSSIBLE.

ANOTHER SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AND SOUTHERN
APPALACHIANS LATE SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY. THIS SYSTEM WILL BE
COLDER AND POTENTIALLY SNOWIER DEPENDING ON THE EXACT TRACK OF THE
LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM. SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL IS POSSIBLE ACROSS THE
HIGHER ELEVATIONS WITH A STRENGTHENING NORTHWEST FLOW ENHANCING
LIFT OVER THE MOUNTAINS.
