THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST NORTH
CAROLINA...EAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT...

COLDER AIR MOVING IN BEHIND A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL KEEP SNOW
SHOWERS AROUND ACROSS HIGHER ELEVATION AREAS THROUGH MUCH OF TODAY.
RAIN SHOWERS MAY MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO SNOW SHOWERS IN THE LOWER
ELEVATIONS AS WELL...BUT LITTLE OR NO ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED
THERE. ADDITIONAL DAYTIME ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO 2 INCHES ARE
EXPECTED MAINLY AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE 2500 FEET IN THE EAST TENNESSEE
MOUNTAINS. AROUND AN INCH OR LESS OF SNOW ACCUMULATION WILL BE
POSSIBLE ACROSS HIGHER ELEVATION AREAS OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA AND
THE NORTHERN PLATEAU. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER
THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...

A COLDER NORTHWEST FLOW WILL DEVELOP BEHIND THE DEPARTING FRONTAL
SYSTEM. THERE WILL CONTINUE TO BE A CHANCE FOR SNOWFALL IN THE
HIGHER TERRAIN DURING THE DAY TUESDAY AS THIS NORTHWEST FLOW IS
FORCED OVER THE MOUNTAINS. HIGHER TERRAIN AREAS COULD PICK UP
POSSIBLY AS MUCH AS ONE ADDITIONAL INCH OF NEW SNOW...WITH LOCALLY
HIGHER AMOUNTS IN THE HIGHEST PEAKS OF THE SMOKY MOUNTAINS.

THE CHANCE FOR SNOW IS LOWER IN THE GREAT VALLEY. HOWEVER...A
DUSTING OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE FROM THE TRI-CITIES REGION OF NORTHEAST
TENNESSEE NORTHEAST THROUGH THE VALLEYS OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA.

PLEASE STAY TUNED TO YOUR NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR FAVORITE RADIO AND
TV STATION FOR THE LATEST WEATHER FORECAST.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER REPORTS OF SNOWFALL WILL BE HELPFUL TODAY THROUGH THROUGH
TUESDAY.
