THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST NORTH
CAROLINA...EAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...

COLDER AIR MOVING IN BEHIND A STRONG STORM SYSTEM MOVING ACROSS
THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN REGION WILL CHANGE RAIN TO SNOW TONIGHT
INTO SATURDAY MORNING. THE TN APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS AND HIGHER
TERRAIN OF WISE AND RUSSELL COUNTIES OF SOUTHWEST VA CAN EXPECT TO
SEE 1 TO 3 INCHES OF SNOW. LESSER AMOUNT ARE EXPECTED
ELSEWHERE...LOW ELEVATION AREAS GENERALLY NORTH OF KNOXVILLE COULD
SEE AROUND A HALF INCH...THE NORTHERN CUMBERLAND PLATEAU AND
PORTIONS OF SW VIRGINIA AROUND AN INCH.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...

ANOTHER SET OF SYSTEMS WILL MOVE INTO THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AND
SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS LATE SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY. THIS FIRST SYSTEM
WILL POTENTIALLY BRING SNOW TO AREAS NORTH OF I-40 DEPENDING ON
THE EXACT TRACK OF THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM. AT THIS TIME...A
DUSTING TO AN INCH OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE FOR AREAS NORTH OF
KNOXVILLE...1 TO 2 INCHES ACROSS THE NORTHERN PLATEAU AND
NORTHEAST TENNESSEE...AND 1 TO 3 ACROSS SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA. SIGNIFICANT
SNOWFALL IS STILL POSSIBLE ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS WITH A
STRENGTHENING NORTHWEST FLOW ENHANCING LIFT OVER THE MOUNTAINS.

THE SECOND SYSTEM IS MUCH WEAKER BUT MAY PROVIDE ADDITIONAL LIGHT
SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS ON TUESDAY.
