THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EAST TENNESSEE...SOUTHWEST
VIRGINIA...AND EXTREME SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT...

NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED.


.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...

A STRONG UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN
APPALACHIANS LATE FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. THIS SYSTEM WILL DEVELOP
A STRONG LOW PRESSURE OVER THE CAROLINAS WITH NORTHERLY WINDS ON
THE BACK SIDE OF THIS SYSTEM PULLING WINTER-LIKE CHILL INTO THE
TENNESSEE VALLEY AND SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS FOR THIS WEEKEND.

WIDESPREAD RAIN SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP BY LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND
EVENING. AS THE COLD AIR MOVES INTO THE AREA...THE RAIN WILL MIX
WITH OR CHANGE TO SNOW SHOWERS OVER MOST OF EAST TENNESSEE...
SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA AND SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS
ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS...GENERALLY AT OR ABOVE
2500 FEET...FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY. EXACT ACCUMULATIONS ARE
UNCERTAIN AT THIS TIME...BUT DRIVING ACROSS THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS
MAY BECOME SNOW COVERED AND SLICK. PERSONS PLANNING ON TRAVELING ON
HIGHWAY 411 OVER THE SMOKY MOUNTAINS OR ROADWAYS ACROSS HIGH
KNOB...VIRGINIA NEED TO KEEP ABREAST OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SNOW AND
ICY ROADS.

BESIDES THE EXPECTED PRECIPITATION...WINTER-LIKE TEMPERATURES ARE
EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND. HIGHS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WILL STRUGGLE TO
CLIMB INTO THE 40S AND LOWER 50S. TEMPERATURES SATURDAY NIGHT WILL
DROP INTO THE 30S...EXCEPT 20S HIGHER ELEVATIONS. LOWS SUNDAY NIGHT
WILL FALL INTO THE UPPER 20S TO LOWER 30S MOST LOCATIONS.

SPOTTER ACTIVATION MAY BE NEEDED ON SATURDAY FOR SNOWFALL REPORTS
ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.
