.SOUNDING DISCUSSION...

...00Z SOUNDING DISCUSSION...

THE 00Z SOUNDING SHOWS A VERY MOIST AND MARGINALLY UNSTABLE
AIRMASS OVER THE AREA. PW VALUES REMAIN QUITE HIGH AT 1.7 INCHES...WITH
A NEARLY SATURATED PROFILE NOTED UP THROUGH THE MID-LEVELS. THIS
MOIST AIRMASS HAS ALSO ALLOWED LIFTED CONDENSATION LEVELS TO FALL
TO AROUND 1200 FEET TODAY. AS THE AIRMASS WAS LIFTED ABOVE THIS
LOW LCL...IT ENCOUNTERED A REGION OF A MARGINAL CAPE VALUES AROUND
1000 J/KG. THIS WAS MORE THAN ENOUGH ENERGY TO PROMOTE THE
DEVELOPMENT OF FAIRLY DEEP UPDRAFTS TODAY. ANOTHER INTERESTING
THING TO NOTE IS THE LACK OF WIND THROUGH THE LOWER HALF OF THE
STORM DEPTH. OVERALL STORM MOTION WAS GENERALLY ON THE ORDER OF 3
KNOTS OR LESS...AS LOW LEVEL WINDS OUT OF THE EAST AND SOUTHEAST
WERE COUNTER- ACTED BY A EQUIVALENT WINDS OUT OF THE WEST AND
NORTHWEST IN THE MID- LEVELS. THIS ALLOWED FOR THE HIGHLY
LOCALIZED HEAVY RAINFALL BANDS OBSERVED DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS
ALONG A WEAK FRONTAL BOUNDARY IN THE RIVER PARISHES AND HOUMA
AREA. 32
