(10/11/2006) Oklahoma Autumn Freeze Information When does the first autumn freeze usually occur in your area of Oklahoma? The Oklahoma Climatological Survey has compiled NWS cooperative observer records to create a first fall freeze probablity table for selected locations in Oklahoma. More information is available here.
(10/10/2006) El Nino Information The Climate Prediction Center has reported that El Niño conditions have developed in the tropical Pacific and are expected to continue into early 2007. What does this mean for western and central Oklahoma and western north Texas? More information is available here.

(10/04/2006) National Weather Festival - November 4, 2006. You're invited to attend the National Weather Festival on Saturday, November 4th, 2006 from 9AM until 1PM. Learn more about your National Weather Service in Norman by touring the Norman Forecast Office, which is now located in the National Weather Center. Other organizations which are also located at the National Weather Center include the Storm Prediction Center, the Warning Decision Training Branch, the National Severe Storms Laboratory, the Oklahoma Climatological Survey, and the University of Oklahoma School of Meteorology. There will be interactive exhibits and hourly weather balloon launches. The festival is free and open to everyone! More information pertaining to the National Weather Festival can be found here.

(8/11/2006) The National Weather Service Forecast Office In Norman Is Back To Normal Operations The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Norman has resumed normal warning and forecast operations after our move on Monday, August 7th to the new National Weather Center. We resumed normal operations around 6:00 pm CDT on Thursday, August 10th.

(6/05/2006) Warning Monitor Upgraded. Keep up to date with warnings and watches in effect on the NWS Norman Weather Monitor pages. The warning awareness display has been upgraded to include tornado and severe thunderstorm watches.
(5/15/2006) New Storm Data File. A new storm data file for the month of February 2006 is available through the Storm Data page.
(5/05/2006) KOUN AWOS Status. Partial weather observations for the automated weather observing system (AWOS) at Norman, Oklahoma's Max Westheimer Airport (KOUN) are now available. Some elements such as sky conditions and visibility may not be available for each observation.
(5/03/2006) AWOS Problems. The automated weather observing system (AWOS) at Norman, Oklahoma's Max Westheimer Airport (KOUN) apparently was struck by lightning on April 15, 2006. The equipment currently has limited functionality, but has no communication with the computer systems that send the observation to NWS websites. There is no estimate for when it will be fully functional again, although a previous failure under similar circumstances took about a month to repair.

(4/04/2006) Weather Radio Programming in Oklahoma City. The NWS Norman Forecast Office, in partnership with Oklahoma City Emergency Management and the State of Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, will be conducting a weather radio programming event. The event will be held Saturday, April 8th from 10 am until 2 pm at Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma City. The event is free and open to everyone. People are invited to bring their weather radios and receive assistance in programming the radios to receive critical warnings and other information. Current models of weather radios allow the user to program hem to receive weather information for only the counties they choose. Weather safety and preparedness information will also be available.
(4/03/2006) 2006 Spotter Training Has Ended. NWS Norman Forecast Office would like to thank the emergency managers and others who organized spotter training sessions for 2006. NWS meteorologists conducted about 40 training sessions at the invitation of local emergency managers. Spotters serve as the last line of defense against the dangerous storms we encounter so frequently here. Thanks to these efforts, over 2400 people were trained as storm spotters. The NWS and the communities served and protected by storm spotters greatly appreciate their hard work and dedication.
(3/24/2006) New Climate Graphs. Yearly climate graphs with plots of temperature and precipitation for selected cities are now available via the NWS Norman web site. Yearly graphs are available for Oklahoma City, OK and Wichita Falls, TX from 1999 through 2009. Yearly graphs are available for Gage, Hobart and Ponca City, OK from 2005 through 2009.
