Severe thunderstorms developed in portions of north-central Oklahoma
during the afternoon and early evening hours on the 6th and moved south
through portions of central and into southeast Oklahoma. These storms
produce four weak brief tornadoes, hail up to softball size and
damaging winds.
Weak tornadoes briefly touched down near Kildare at 1630CST, 4 miles
east-southeast of Yale at 2050CST, 2 miles north-northeast of Ripley at
2112CST and 6 miles south of Stroud at 2245CST. All of these tornadoes
touched down in open fields and no damage was reported.
Thunderstorm winds blew the roof off a well house 8 miles southeast of
Newkirk, destroyed a barn 3 miles north of Yale and just north of Yale,
downed power lines 1.5 miles east of Yale and 1 mile west of Kaw City
and downed tree limbs in Cromwell.

hours on the 24th produced hail up to baseball size and damaging winds.
Thunderstorm winds destroyed a shed, peeled roofing material off a
trailer and downed tree limbs 4.5 miles west of Wynnewood, ripped off
a hotel awning and uprooted a large tree 10 miles west of Marietta and
knocked down an antenna 6 miles west of Marietta.
Hail up to golfball size in Wakita broke out numerous north and west
facing windows, damaged roofs of homes and automobiles and damaged the
wheat crop.

Thunderstorms developed in western Oklahoma during the afternoon hours
on the 25th moved southeastward into portions of central, south-central
and southeast Oklahoma during the evening hours. Heavy rainfall from
these storms resulted in flash flooding and three fatalities southwest
of Duncan. The storms also produced hail up to tennis ball size,
damaging lightning and damaging winds.
Heavy rainfall southwest of Duncan resulted in flash flooding.
Approximately 4 miles southwest of Duncan near 42nd street and Seminole
road, a vehicle with 2 adults and 5 children attempted to drive across
a flooded road and got stranded. The two adults exited the vehicle and
attempted to get the 5 children to safety. Three of the children were
swept away and drowned. M6V,F4V,M2V.
Heavy rain resulted in numerous bridges being covered with water from
7 miles west of Duncan to 7 miles northwest of Duncan. Several people
drove into high water and had to be rescued.
Hail up to tennis ball size in and near Shattuck in combination with
intense thunderstorm winds broke out numerous west and north facing
windows, damaged the roofs of homes, resulted in several holes in the
roof of the Pioneer Telephone Company, damaged many automobiles with
several totaled and destroyed several fields of alfalfa east of town.
The hail storm lasted up to 15 minutes and hail accumulated several
inches deep with some hail drifts up to 3 feet high. Hail up to quarter
size in combination with intense thunderstorm winds damaged the west
and north side of a house 5.5 miles northwest of Custer City.
Thunderstorm winds damaged 6 mobile homes 5 miles west-northwest of
Ardmore, tore a porch off a house and knocked down several trees 5
miles northwest of Ardmore, ripped tin from a barn 5 miles northwest of
Geronimo, blew a barn down and lifted a roof off a barn near Lone
Grove, ripped shutters off a house, destroyed two storm doors and
downed large tree limbs 5 miles northwest of Custer City, downed tree
limbs 2.5 miles north-northeast of Hydro and 5 miles west of Bridgeport
and downed a tree on the north side of Weatherford.
A lightning strike 3 miles east of Marlow started a fire which damaged
a barn and destroyed the hay inside. Lighting struck 2 homes and an
apartment complex in Marlow between 2045CST and 2059CST. Lighting
strikes resulted in $800 in damage to appliances in two apartments and
resulted in $1200 in damage to appliances in a house. The other
lightning strike started a house fire which resulted in $12,000 in
damage. Lighting started an oil well fire east of Elgin. Lighting hit
a house and damaged a solar panel on the northwest side of Lawton.
Lightning started a house fire 1.5 miles east-southeast of Cache.
Damage was estimated at $20,000. Lightning started a house fire in the
2200 block of Southeast 40th Street in Oklahoma City. Lightning started
a house fire which nearly totaled a house 1 miles south of Atoka.

Thunderstorms in southern Oklahoma during the afternoon of the 27th
produced damaging lightning, damaging winds and hail up to dime size.
Thunderstorm winds near Willis destroyed one mobile home, damaged two
homes, one barn and several recreation vehicles, blew a tree onto a
boat, destroyed a gas pump and a sign, tore roofing material off a
business resulting in water damage and downed trees. Near Willis, a man
seeking shelter from the storm in a tent was blown into Lake Texoma.
The man was able to get out of the tent and reach land safely.
A lightning strike knocked a hole in the roof of a house and destroyed
a transformer on the east side of Lawton.

Thunderstorms in southern Oklahoma during the morning hours of the 29th
produced damaging lightning and winds and resulted in one fatality.
Thunderstorm winds of up to 50 mph downed a large hollow oak tree on
top of a mobile home near Woodville. A 49 year old man was killed
instantly and his wife was trapped in the mobile home for 2 hours.

Thunderstorm winds knocked down several power poles near Bennington.
Near Hugo Lake, a pickup truck was destroyed after strong winds blew a
large tree on top of it.
Lightning started a house fire which damaged a house and an automobile
and destroyed 2 vehicles in Durant. In addition, televisions in nearby
homes were damaged. Damage was estimated between $50,000 and $100,000.
Lightning started a fire at the CNG Producers storage facility near
Lone Grove.

hours on the 25th produced 1 tornado, hail up to 2 inches in diameter
and damaging winds.
A tornado touched down 2 miles north of Quanah at 1815CST. The F0
tornado occurred in an open field and no damage was reported.
Thunderstorm winds estimated at 100 mph in combination with 2 inch
diameter hail destroyed a 20 x 20 foot storage building, damaged a
satellite dish and several homes, broke windows, downed fences and
telephone poles, stripped bark from trees and destroyed the cotton and
watermelon crops 4.5 miles north-northeast of Quanah. Thunderstorm
winds damaged roofs and knocked down trees and transformers in Quanah,
tore the roofs off of several barns just east of Quanah, knocked down
the front of a store and severely damaged the roof, downed numerous
trees and tree limbs and damaged railroad crossing gates in
Chillicothe, damaged the roof and a door of a doctors clinic in Vernon
and downed tree limbs in Benjamin and Odell.
