At Crab Orchard, marble to golfball-size hail covers the ground 3" deep on I-40. Over a half dozen wreckers are sent to clear the accidents on the interstate. Traffic is backed up for 12 miles to the Roane County line. There are 4 injuries. Snow plows are used to clear the hail off the interstate. Hailstones measure 7" deep at one residence.
