...JUNE WAS DRIER THAN NORMAL FOR TALLAHASSEE...

THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE FOR JUNE IN TALLAHASSEE WAS 84.5
DEGREES...4.1 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THAT MAKES JUNE 2011 THE 2ND
HOTTEST JUNE ON RECORD FOR TALLAHASSEE. THE HOTTEST JUNE CONTINUES
TO BE 1998 WITH AN AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE OF 85.3 DEGREES.

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE TOP 5 HOTTEST JUNES ON RECORD:

JUNE 2011 84.5 DEGREES
JUNE 2010/1952 83.8 DEGREES
JUNE 1914 83.7 DEGREES

THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH WAS 105 DEGREES ON THE
15TH. THE 105 DEGREE TEMPERATURE BROKE THE PREVIOUS ALL TIME HIGH
TEMPERATURE RECORD FOR TALLAHASSEE WHICH WAS 104 DEGREES SET MOST
RECENTLY ON JUNE 20TH 1933. THE PERIOD OF RECORD FOR TALLAHASSEE
DATES BACK TO 1892. THERE WERE THREE ADDITIONAL HIGH TEMPERATURE
RECORDS ESTABLISHED DURING THE MONTH...103 ON THE 1ST...102 ON THE
13TH AND 103 ON THE 14TH. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS 68 DEGREES ON
THE 10TH AND 11TH.

RAINFALL AT THE TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL AIRPORT FOR JUNE MEASURED 4.59
INCHES...2.33 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. THERE WERE 13 DAYS WITH
MEASURABLE RAINFALL DURING THE MONTH WHICH WAS 1 ABOVE NORMAL. THE
GREATEST AMOUNT IN A 24-HOUR PERIOD WAS 1.11 INCHES ON THE 25TH
THROUGH 26TH. THERE WERE 16 DAYS WITH THUNDER REPORTED AT THE
AIRPORT WHICH WAS 2 ABOVE NORMAL. THE PEAK WIND GUST WAS 55 MPH FROM
THE WEST ON THE 26TH.

SO FAR IN 2011 EVERY MONTH HAS BEEN DRIER THAN NORMAL FOR
TALLAHASSEE. RAINFALL FOR THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR MEASURED ONLY
17.47 INCHES WHICH WAS 14.45 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. JANUARY THROUGH
JUNE OF 2011 WAS THE 7TH DRIEST 6 MONTH PERIOD TO START A NEW YEAR.
THE DRIEST WAS IN 2000 WHEN ONLY 11.14 INCHES WAS RECORDED.

THE OUTLOOK FOR JULY FROM THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER CALLS FOR AN
ENHANCED CHANCE FOR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND EQUAL CHANCES OF
EXPERIENCING ABOVE...NORMAL OR BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION. THE
AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE FOR JULY IS 82.4 DEGREES AND NORMAL
RAINFALL IS 8.04 INCHES.

ACCORDING TO THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER THERE IS A 43% CHANCE FOR
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE DURING THE 3-MONTH PERIOD FROM JULY THROUGH
SEPTEMBER WILL BE HIGHER THAN 81.4 DEGREES...A 32% CHANCE FOR THE
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE TO BE BETWEEN 80.4 AND 81.4 AND A 25% CHANCE TO
BE LOWER THAN 80.4 DEGREES. THERE ARE NO 3-MONTH PRECIPITATION
OUTLOOKS FOR SPECIFIC POINT LOCATIONS AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER...THE
GENERALIZED OUTLOOK FOR THE TALLAHASSEE AREA CALLS FOR AN ENHANCED
CHANCE OF EXPERIENCING ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION. THE NORMAL
3-MONTH RAINFALL FOR TALLAHASSEE IS 20.08 INCHES.
