NWS Tallahassee Proposes Reduction in NWR Broadcast Cycle Times

...NWS TALLAHASSEE PROPOSES REDUCTION IN NOAA WEATHER RADIO
BROADCAST CYCLE TIMES...

IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE THE ROUTINE BROADCAST CYCLE TIMES OF THE NOAA
WEATHER RADIO BROADCASTS...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN
TALLAHASSEE PROPOSES THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO THE BROADCAST CONTENT
OF THE STATIONS BEING SERVICED BY THIS OFFICE.

1. RIVER FLOOD WARNINGS WILL NO LONGER BE BROADCAST.

2. CLIMATE AND TIDE INFORMATION WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE BROADCAST
ON THE TALLAHASSEE AND APALACHICOLA STATIONS...BUT REMAIN AVAILABLE
VIA THE AUTOMATED TELEPHONE LINE AT 850-942-8851.

3. THE LENGTH OF THE ZONE FORECAST PRODUCT AND THE COASTAL WATERS
FORECAST WILL BE TRUNCATED TO INCLUDE ONLY THE FIRST SIX PERIODS (OR
THREE DAYS) OF THE FORECAST.

4. SPECIAL MARINE WARNINGS AND MARINE WEATHER STATEMENTS WILL NO
LONGER BE BROADCAST FROM INLAND TRANSMITTERS...INCLUDING ASHBURN...
BLAKELY...HAHIRA...PELHAM...SNEADS...AND HOLMES COUNTY.

5. THE HOURLY WEATHER ROUNDUP WILL INCLUDE ONLY WEATHER...
TEMPERATURE AND WIND FOR ALL LAND STATIONS AND WIND AND SEAS FOR
MARINE STATIONS.

6. THE HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK WOULD EXPIRE AFTER SIX HOURS...OR
ROUGHLY NOON EASTERN TIME. THIS PRODUCT MAY BE KEPT IN THE BROADCAST
CYCLE FOR LONGER PERIODS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE LEAD FORECASTER IF
HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS WARRANT.
