On November 18, 2009, NWS Tallahassee migrated to a new system to manage content on our web pages. The new Content Management System (CMS) is necessary to help websites run more reliably and allow members of the National Weather Service staff to quickly update content. Without the CMS, there is no backup should the regional web server fail. The CMS allows sites to be mirrored on servers located in other regions. If one server goes down, the others can take over and keep sites running.

This has resulted in a change in the naming convention we use for most of our web pages. The home page will maintain its current address as follows, All other web addresses will change. The existing naming convention for most pages will change from this:

to this:

If you cannot find a page you are looking for, go to the home page and follow the links in the left-hand navagation section. Please be sure to update your bookmarks and favorite links. In addition, there are several dated and seldom viewed pages that will no longer exist.

Be assured that we will be doing our best to make this transition as painless as possible for the loyal visitors to our site. We will make every effort to include all of the content you expect to see on the site. If you have any question, comments or concerns, please let us know. Email us at
