The Middle Tennessee Snow Storm of Feb 12-13

A winter storm spread light freezing rain and sleet into southern parts of the Mid State early on the morning of February 12, 2014. However, by mid to late afternoon a transition to snow took place, and just before nightfall a number of areas reported light accumulations already on the ground. The snow intensified during the evening before tapering off in the early morning hours of February 13, 2014. When all was said and done, much of southern and eastern Middle Tennessee had picked up 1 to 3 inches of snow, and some locations near the Alabama border and on the Cumberland Plateau even received 4 to 6 inches of snow.

As the ice changed to snow late Wednesday afternoon, we started getting pictures of snowfall accumulations. Some of the first ones came from Lawrence County and Giles County,
near the Alabama border, as well as from Rutherford County, just south of Nashville. (See below)

By the time the sun came up on February 13, 2014, residents in
eastern Middle Tennessee awoke to some impressive snowfall and beautiful
