Tornadoes Confirmed from January 30, 2013 (Updated 4:30am Feb. 2)


NWS storm survey teams have confirmed the following tornadoes from the January 30th morning stormsThese findings are subject to change as new information is received.

Preliminary Tornado Tracks

Tornado 1:    An EF2 in Mt. Juliet in Wilson County near the intersection of Mount Juliet Road and Lebanon Road.

Tornado 2:    An EF0 from south of White Bluff in southeast Dickson county to Kingston Springs in southern Cheatham County.

Tornado 3:    An EF2 has been confirmed in Hickman County near the Coble Community.

Tornado 4:    An EF0 from Shute Lane in southwest Gallatin in Sumner County through Fairfiew Plantation, to Bay Point to Bledsoe Creek State Park.

Tornado 5:    An EF0 has been confirmed in Sumner County, between Millersville and Gallatin.

Tornado 6:    An EF0 has been confirmed in Sumner County, from HWY 25 and Harsh Lane to the Sumner County RC Fliers area.

Tornado 7:    An EF1 has been confirmed in eastern Robertson County near Highway 76 between Springfield and White House...including the Pinson School Rd area to Bethlehem Rd and Baggett Rd. This tornado continued into western Sumner County.

Tornado 8:    An EF1 has been confirmed in north-central Wilson County from along Mann Rd. to southern Trousdale County near Highway 141.

Tornado 9:    An EF0 has been confirmed in southwest Macon County about 7 miles southwest of Lafayette.

Tornado 10:  An EF0 has been confirmed in northeast Macon County about 7 miles northeast of Lafayette.

Tornado 11:  An EF1 has been confirmed in Rutherford County near Eagleville.

Tornado 12:  An EF0 has been confirmed in Williamson County in Franklin.

Tornado 13An EF0 has been confirmed in Coffee County near Manchester.

Tornado 14An EF0 has been confirmed in Cheatham County in Ashland City.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE PERSONNEL AND WILSON COUNTY
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SURVEYED DAMAGE IN MOUNT JULIET THE MORNING
OF JANUARY 30 2013 AND CONFIRMED AN EF2 TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN. THE
TORNADO BEGAN ON GLENWOOD DRIVE THEN MOVED EAST-NORTHEAST THROUGH
THE CITY BEFORE LIFTING NEAR COOKS CHURCH ROAD. THE HEAVIEST
DAMAGE OCCURRED IN A COMMERCIAL DISTRICT AROUND LEBANON ROAD AND
MOUNT JULIET ROAD WHERE ONE WAREHOUSE AND AN AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS
WERE HEAVILY DAMAGED. SEVERAL OTHER BUSINESSES IN THE AREA
RECEIVED MINOR TO MODERATE STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE
TO OUTBUILDINGS...FENCES...AND POWER POLES OCCURRED AT THE MOUNT
JUILET BALLPARK. DOZENS OF TREES AND POWER LINES WERE BLOWN DOWN
AND MANY OTHER HOMES RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE ALONG THE PATH.

INITIAL DAMAGE CONSISTING OF SNAPPED TREES WAS EVIDENT ON WOLF CREEK ROAD
APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE WEST OF THE COBLE COMMUNITY IN NORTHWEST HICKMAN COUNTY.
DAMAGE BECAME MUCH MORE SIGNIFICANT IN THE COBLE COMMUNITY BEGINNING AT THE
INTERSECTION OF BRIAR POND RD AND HWY 438.  SEVERAL BRICK HOMES SUFFERED
CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE IN COBLE INCLUDING ONE WITH ALMOST TOTAL ROOF LOSS
AND THE COLLAPSE OF A WALL.  A MOBILE HOME WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED WITH
DEBRIS SCATTERED AND THE METAL FRAME WRAPPED PARTIALLY AROUND A TREE.  A
CINDER BLOCK GARAGE AND AT LEAST 3 BARNS WERE DEMOLISHED AND AN RV WAS
FLIPPED ON IT'S SIDE.  THE TORNADO WAS QUITE WIDE NEAR COBLE...AROUND 300
YARDS...AND HUNDREDS OF TREES WERE SNAPPED OR UPROOTED.  THERE WERE NO
INJURIES.

 

 

Tornado 4:   EF0 from Shute Lane in southwest Gallatin in Sumner County through Fairview Plantation to Bay Point to Bledsoe Creek State Park.

AN EF0 TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF HWY 31 AND
SHUTE LANE. NUMEROUS TREES WERE UPROOTED OR SNAPPED WITH SOME
TREES FALLING ON HOMES. SEVERAL HOMES HAD MINOR ROOF DAMAGE. THE
MOST SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OCCURRED IN THE FAIRVIEW PLANTATION AND
BAYPOINT SUBDIVISIONS. THE TORNADO TRAVELED 10.3 MILES AND
CONTINUED TO UPROOT AND SNAP TREES AND CAUSE MINOR ROOF DAMAGE
ALONG THE PATH UNTIL IT LIFTED NEAR BLEDSOE CREEK STATE PARK.

ROAD AND SANDY VALLEY ROAD DESTROYING TWO GARAGE BUILDINGS.
NUMEROUS TREES WERE SNAPPED AND UPROOTED...AND SOME HOMES HAD
MINOR ROOF DAMAGE. AS THE TORNADO TRAVELED 3.5 MILES TREES WERE
SNAPPED AND UPROOTED UNTIL THE TORNADO LIFTED ALONG UPPER STATION
CAMP ROAD.

HARSH LANE DIRECTLY IMPACTING THE APPLE MARKET WITH MINOR ROOF
DAMAGE. AS THE TORNADO TRAVELED 1.0 MILES A FEW TREES WERE SNAPPED
AND UPROOTED UNTIL THE TORNADO LIFTED VERY NEAR THE SUMNER COUNTY
RC FLIERS AREA.

AN EF1 TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN ALONG PINSON SCHOOL ROAD AND TRAVELED ACROSS POSSUM TROT ROAD UPROOTING AND SNAPPING SEVERAL TREES. ONCE THE TORNADO CROSSED THE INTERSECTION OF HWY 76 AND GUM STATION ROAD MORE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OCCURRED TO NUMEROUS HOMES AND A BARN. MOST HOMES HAD MINOR ROOF DAMAGE WHILE A FEW HAD SUBSTANTIAL ROOF DAMAGE. HUNDREDS OF TREES WERE UPROOTED AND SNAPPED ALONG GUM STATION ROAD...BETHLEHEM ROAD AND BAGGETT ROAD. THE TORNADO CAUSED SMALL AREAS OF SNAPPED AND UPROOTED TREES UNTIL IT CROSSED OVER INTERSTATE 65 AT MILE MARKER 113 MOVING INTO SUMNER COUNTY.  THE LAST EVIDENCE OF DAMAGE WAS 1 MILE NORTH OF THE HWY 25 AND HWY 31 JUNCTION.
