NWS Nashville Lead Meteorologist Sam Shamburger will give a basic SKYWARN Storm Spotter training for those participants that are not currently trained spotters. This class will allow non-spotters to become trained in basic severe weather spotting techniques and reporting criteria. |

Lisa Spencer and Paul Heggen will give an overview of the January 30th tornadoes that occurred in Middle Tennessee. Lead Forecaster Sam Shamburger, who was the primary warning forecaster on Jan.30th will provide a radar analysis of the event and give his perspective of being an NWS warning forecaster. |

Advanced/Elite Storm Spotter Training

The Advanced/Elite course is designed for those spotters that have a real interest in the meteorology behind severe weather. The course will cover multiple severe weather variables and terminology as well as some advanced radar information such as how the new dual-pol radar will help in severe weather detection. |

This series of talks provides a look back at the tornado that struck downtown Nashville 15 years ago. This will include an overview of the meteorological conditions that caused the event and accounts from two television meteorologists who were on air warning of the severe weather threat. Researchers will discuss advancements in research and what the future of the science holds. |
