...THREE OF THE 10 HOTTEST SUMMERS IN NASHVILLE HAVE OCCURRED

IN THE LAST 5 YEARS...

AUGUST 2011 IN NASHVILLE WAS THE 25TH HOTTEST ON RECORD. THERE
WERE 24 DAYS OF 90 DEGREE OR HIGHER TEMPERATURES AND ONE DAY OF
TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT. ON AVERAGE...NASHVILLE HAS 13 DAYS OF 90
DEGREES AND ABOVE DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 1.8 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.


THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 92.0 DEGREES AND THE AVERAGE LOW

TEMPERATURE WAS 68.9 DEGREES.

THE HOTTEST TEMPERATURE DURING AUGUST 2011 WAS 102 DEGREES ON

THE 3RD WHICH BROKE THE RECORD FOR THE DATE OF 100 DEGREES SET BACK
IN 1952. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH WAS 62 DEGREES ON
30TH.

RAINFALL FOR AUGUST TOTALED ONLY 1.78 INCHES...WHICH IS 1.39 INCHES

BELOW NORMAL. NORMAL RAINFALL FOR AUGUST IS 3.17 INCHES. THE GREATEST
CALENDAR DAY RAINFALL WAS 1.15 INCHES WHICH FELL ON AUGUST 21ST.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE MONTH WAS 4.8 MILES AN HOUR. A

THUNDERSTORM WIND GUST OF 35 MILES AN HOUR OCCURRED ON THE 6TH.

THE HOTTEST TEMPERATURE WAS 92 DEGREES ON THE 3RD AND 25TH AND THE

LOWEST WAS 55 DEGREES ON THE 16TH AND 29TH. THERE WERE 5 DAYS OF
90 DEGREES AND ABOVE.

RAINFALL TOTALED 1.07 INCHES WHICH WAS 2.92 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.
