...APRIL WAS WARM...WET AND STORMY...

APRIL 2011 WILL GO DOWN AS THE 9TH WETTEST APRIL ON RECORD
AND THE WETTEST APRIL IN NASHVILLE SINCE 1984. RAINFALL FOR
APRIL TOTALED 7.51 INCHES WHICH IS 3.58 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.
THE GREATEST RAINFALL IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD CAME ON APRIL 26TH
AND 27TH WHEN 1.84 INCHES OF RAIN FELL.

NO SNOW FELL DURING THE MONTH.

THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 74.7 DEGREES
AND THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 51.0 DEGREES. FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL
THE TEMPERATURE WAS 4.3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...MAKING IT THE
18TH WARMEST APRIL ON RECORD AND THE WARMEST IN 5 YEARS.
THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 91 DEGREES ON APRIL 9TH.
THIS BROKE THE RECORD HIGH FOR APRIL 9TH...SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1995.
THE 91 DEGREES ON APRIL 9TH ALSO TIED THE ALL TIME RECORD HIGH
FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL...PREVIOUSLY SET ON APRIL 26TH AND 27TH...IN 1989.
THE 91 DEGREES ON APRIL 9TH WAS THE EARLIEST IN THE SEASON THAT
A 90 DEGREE TEMPERATURE HAS EVER BEEN RECORDED IN NASHVILLE SINCE
RECORD KEEPING BEGAN BACK IN 1870. PREVIOUSLY...THE EARLIEST IN
THE SEASON THAT 90 DEGREES HAD BEEN OBSERVED WAS APRIL 17TH 1955.
ALSO...THE LOW OF 65 DEGREES ON THE 9TH TIED THE RECORD FOR THE
HIGHEST DAILY MINIMUM TEMPERATURE...FIRST SET IN 1953. THE LOWEST
TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL WAS 35 DEGREES ON THE 17TH.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE MONTH WAS 9.6 MILES AN HOUR. THE WINDEST
DAY WAS APRIL 19TH WHEN THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED WAS 17.7 MILES AN HOUR.
WINDS OF 50 MILES AN HOUR OR GREATER OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE DAYS
OF THE MONTH WITH THE HIGHEST PEAK WIND SPEED OF 59 MILES AN HOUR
OCCURRING ON APRIL 4TH. THERE WERE 8 DAYS IN WHICH THUNDERSTORMS
OCCURRED AT NASHVILLE.

PRELIMINARY REPORTS SHOW 8 TORNADOES IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE DURING APRIL.

CROSSVILLE...MEASURED 7.73 INCHES OF RAIN WHICH IS 3.13 INCHES ABOVE
NORMAL FOR THE MONTH. THE GREATEST RAINFALL IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD CAME
ON APRIL 15TH AND 16TH WHEN 2.19 INCHES FELL.

THE AVERAGE HIGH FOR APRIL AT CROSSVILLE WAS 70.3 DEGREES AND THE
AVERAGE LOW 47.8 DEGREES. FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL...THE TEMPERATURE
AVERAGED 3.9 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE WAS 84 DEGREES
ON THE 10TH...AND THE LOWEST WAS 31 DEGREES ON THE 17TH.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR APRIL WAS 7.2 MILES AN HOUR. THE WINDEST DAY
WAS APRIL 4TH WHEN THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED WAS 11.9 MILES AN HOUR.
CROSSVILLE HAD A WIND GUST TO 55 MILES AN HOUR ON APRIL 4TH.

THERE WERE 5 DAYS IN WHICH THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRED AT CROSSVILLE.
