There were 35 tornadoes across the volunteer state in 2010 with only 1 fatality. This was the least number of tornadoes in Tennessee since 2007. In 2007 only 10 tornadoes occurred with no fatalities.

 

Since 2000 there have been 333 tornadoes in Tennessee with 101 fatalities. The largest number of tornadoes in a calendar year since 2000 occurred in 2008 when 56 tornadoes touched down with 31 fatalities.

The 34 fatalities in 2006 is the most since the Super Outbreak of 1974 when 47 Tennesseans lost their lives. The most fatalities in a calendar year occurred in 1952 when 22 tornadoes killed 70 Tennesseans...most of these in West Tennessee.
