AUGUST, 2010 WILL GO DOWN AS THE 9TH WETTEST AUGUST IN NASHVILLE`S
HISTORY. BUT THE RAIN CERTAINLY DIDN`T DO MUCH TO KEEP
TEMPERATURES DOWN. DESPITE COOLER WEATHER DURING THE FINAL WEEK OF
THE MONTH, NASHVILLE FINISHED 4 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL, WITH AN
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 81.9 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE
WAS 92.6, AND THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 71.2.

THE TEMPERATURE REACHED 90 DEGREES OR BETTER ON 22 DAYS, THE
WARMEST COMING ON THE 4TH WHEN THE MERCURY PEAKED AT 101 DEGREES.
THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE OBSERVED WAS 61 DEGREES ON THE 27TH.

AS FOR RAINFALL, NASHVILLE MEASURED 6.99 INCHES FOR THE MONTH,
WHICH WAS 3.71 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. THE GREATEST 24-HOUR RAINFALL
WAS 3.14 INCHES ON THE 17TH AND 18TH. THE WETTEST CALENDAR DAY WAS
THE 18TH, WITH 2.49 INCHES. RAIN WAS MEASURED ON 9 DAYS, AND
THERE WERE ALSO 9 DAYS WITH THUNDERSTORMS.

THE FASTEST WIND GUST WAS 48 MILES AN HOUR ON THE 5TH.

IN CROSSVILLE, THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 77.8
DEGREES, WHICH WAS 4.6 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE HIGH WAS
87 DEGREES, AND THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 68.7. THERE WERE 6 DAYS WHEN
THE TEMPERATURE REACHED 90 DEGREES OR ABOVE, WITH THE WARMEST
BEING 93 DEGREES ON THE 4TH AND 13TH. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS
59 DEGREES ON THE 25TH AND 27TH.

RAINFALL WAS MEASURED AT 3.35 INCHES, WHICH WAS 0.72 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL. THE WETTEST 24-HOUR PERIOD CAME ON THE 5TH AND 6TH WHEN
1.46 INCHES OF RAIN OCCURRED. THE WETTEST CALENDAR DAY WAS THE
17TH, WHEN 0.90 INCHES OF RAIN WAS MEASURED. RAIN OCCURRED ON 7
DAYS DURING THE MONTH, AND THERE WERE 13 DAYS WITH THUNDERSTORMS.

THE FASTEST WIND GUST WAS 38 MILES AN HOUR ON THE 5TH.

FINALLY, IN CLARKSVILLE, THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 80.9 DEGREES,
WITH AN AVERAGE HIGH OF 92.6, AND AN AVERAGE LOW OF 69.2. THE
WARMEST DAY WAS THE 4TH, WHEN THE MERCURY HIT 101 DEGREES, AND THE
COOLEST READING WAS 56 DEGREES ON THE 27TH. THERE WERE A TOTAL OF
23 DAYS AT 90 DEGREES OR BETTER.

IT WAS ALSO A DRY MONTH AT CLARKSVILLE, WITH JUST 1.07 INCHES OF
RAIN. RAIN WAS MEASURED ON SIX DAYS DURING AUGUST. THE WETTEST DAY
WAS THE 18TH, WHEN 0.49 INCHES OF RAIN FELL. THERE WERE 10 DAYS
WITH THUNDERSTORMS.

THE FASTEST WIND GUST WAS 45 MILES AN HOUR ON THE 12TH.

FOR THE SUMMER MONTHS OF JUNE, JULY, AND AUGUST, THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE AT NASHVILLE WAS 81.7 DEGREES, WHICH WAS 4.4 DEGREES
ABOVE NORMAL. THE HOTTEST DAY WAS AUGUST 4, AT 101 DEGREES. THE
COOLEST WAS JUNE 7, WHEN THE LOW TEMPERATURE DIPPED TO 59 DEGREES.

RAINFALL WAS WELL ABOVE NORMAL, WITH A TOTAL OF 17.81 INCHES
OCCURRING AT NASHVILLE. THIS WAS 6.81 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL FOR THE
SUMMER.
