NWS Forecaster Looks up at the snow, sleet and freezing rain that was falling Friday evening around 930 pm cst on
January 29th 2010. About 3 inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain was on the ground at this time. The snow, sleet and
freezing rain continued throughout the night and into the next day. Sleet and freezing rain were the predominate
precipitation types after midnight on the 30th of January 2010 as a snow density measurement showed 40 percent
water at 9 am cst on January 30th 2010. The snow, sleet and freezing rain had a ratio of 4:1 for this event. Had it been
all snow it would have been more like a 9:1 snow to liquid ratio since the water equaivalent measured 0.88 inches.
