The above image shows the snow field across Tennessee and Kentucky along with adjacent areas as seen from the geo stationary satellite on January 31st 2010 at 1:01 pm cst. Image below is showing the snow cover at the National Weather Service Office in Old Hickory. Building in the image is the upper air building which is where the weather balloons are filled with hydrogen prior to release. The dome on top is where the tracking equipment is housed. Steps leading up to the dome allow technicians to do maintenance.
