NOAA Weather Radio Enhancements

...ENHANCEMENTS COMING TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO... An upgraded computer system and new software components are being implemented at the National Weather Service office in Albuquerque. These new enhancements will improve the overall function and reliability of NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts while also delivering an improved voice broadcast to listeners. A new synthesized, yet natural, voice developed by Neo Speech will replace the longstanding voice that has been used for the past 10 years. The name of the new synthesized voice is Paul. As Paul continues to be configured, his pronunciation of New Mexico place names will continually improve. While some configurations and fine- tuning may be in the works over the next few weeks, it is expected that this new voice will provide a much improved audio broadcast. These changes have already been implemented for the Portales, Ruidoso, and Roswell NOAA weather radio transmitters and the new changes will be rolled out to the Farmington, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Des Moines NOAA weather radio transmitters on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.
