Volusia county (includes Daytona Beach) has by far the greatest number of rip current rescues except in the months of December through February when ocean temperatures are in the 50s and 60s.  Martin county (east of Lake Okeechobee) has more rip current rescues during December through February due to the warmer Gulf Stream waters just offshore.
