On May 8th, the NWS Melbourne Forecast Office hosted a pre-hurricane season workshop and familiarization visit for area television meteorologist. Topics covered were, tropical cyclone tornadoes, expressing uncertainty through hurricane probabilities and probabilistic storm surge. Also covered were TPC products, storm based warnings, NOAA Weather Radio and NWS/media coordination. The event was well attended with representatives from each of the stations in the Orlando and West Palm Beach market areas.
