...BELOW NORMAL RAINFALL AND SLIGHTLY COOLER THAN NORMAL 
TEMPERATURES FOR EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA DURING NOVEMBER 2010...

THE THIRD AND FINAL CLIMATOLOGICAL MONTH OF AUTUMN SAW BELOW NORMAL 
RAINFALL IN MOST AREAS AND WAS THE SECOND MONTH IN A ROW IN WHICH 
MONTHLY TEMPERATURES WERE SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL. 

.TEMPERATURES... 

TEMPERATURES OVER EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA WERE SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL 
OVERALL FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER.  A STRONG COLD FRONT PASSED 
THROUGH THE AREA DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF THE MONTH...BEGINNING A 
FOUR DAY STRETCH OF WELL BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES DURING WHICH 
RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE WERE BROKEN AT DAYTONA BEACH AND VERO BEACH 
AND RECORD COOL HIGH TEMPERATURES WERE BROKEN AT DAYTONA  BEACH... 
MELBOURNE...AND ORLANDO. MORE MODERATELY BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES 
CONTINUED FOR ANOTHER WEEK AFTER THE RECORD COLD WEATHER.  ONSHORE 
FLOW CAUSED ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR THE LAST 10 DAYS OF 
NOVEMBER OVER EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.  BOTH MELBOURNE AND VERO BEACH 
BROKE HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS ON NOVEMBER 16 WHILE THE AREA WAS IN 
THE WARM SECTOR OF A MID-LATITUDE CYCLONE. DAYTONA BEACH RECORDED A 
NEW WARM LOW TEMPERATURE RECORD ON NOVEMBER 29 UNDER SIMILAR 
CONDITIONS.

THE OVERALL MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE VALUES FOR THE FOUR MAIN 
CLIMATE SITES ACROSS EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA ARE AS FOLLOWS:

-DAYTONA BEACH HAD AN AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE OF 65.6 DEGREES 
FAHRENHEIT WHICH WAS 1.4 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. 

-ORLANDO HAD AN AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE OF 67.7 DEGREES 
FAHRENHEIT WHICH WAS 1.1 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.

-MELBOURNE HAD AN AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE OF 68.6 DEGREES 
FAHRENHEIT WHICH WAS 0.6 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. 

-VERO BEACH HAD AN AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE OF 69.5 DEGREES 
FAHRENHEIT WHICH WAS 1.0 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. 

.RAINFALL... 

THE COLD FRONTS THAT PASSED THROUGH DURING NOVEMBER PROVIDED ONLY 
LIMITED RAINFALL TO MUCH OF THE AREA. NEARLY ALL OF THE REPORTING 
SITES LOGGED BELOW NORMAL RAINFALL FOR THE MONTH. HOWEVER...ONE 
EXCEPTION WAS THE MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MLB) WHERE 
RAINFALL WAS ABOVE NORMAL FOR THE MONTH. THIS WAS PRIMARILY THE 
RESULT OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1.47 INCHES ON THE 4TH 
AND 1.05 ON THE 29TH IN ASSOCIATION WITH PASSING FRONTS. THIS WAS 
THE FIRST ABOVE NORMAL MONTHLY RAINFALL TOTAL FOR MELBOURNE SINCE 
APRIL OF THIS YEAR...WHICH WAS 0.05 ABOVE NORMAL.
 
THE STREAK OF MEASURABLE RAIN-FREE DAYS THAT WERE STILL ONGOING AT 
THE END OF OCTOBER CONTINUED INTO EARLY NOVEMBER AT THE FOLLOWING 
SITES: 

-ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT REPORTED MEASURABLE RAINFALL OF 0.73 
ON NOVEMBER 2. THIS ENDED A 34-DAY DRY STREAK, WHICH WAS IT'S 4TH 
LONGEST RAIN-FREE STRETCH. 

-MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ENDED A 34-DAY RAIN-FREE STREAK ON 
NOVEMBER 2 WHEN 0.07 INCH FELL. THIS TIED AS THE 5TH LONGEST DRY 
STREAK WHICH LAST OCCURRED ENDING DECEMBER 27 IN 1961.
