...FIRST NATIONWIDE EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM TEST...

ON NOVEMBER 9TH AT APPROXIMATELY 200 PM EASTERN TIME, THE STATE OF
FLORIDA WILL PARTICIPATE IN A NATIONWIDE TEST OF THE EMERGENCY ALERT
SYSTEM.

THE TEST WILL BE SEEN ON LOCAL TV, CABLE TV, AND SATELLITE TV, AND
HEARD ON AM AND FM RADIO STATIONS.

THIS TEST WILL LAST UP TO ONE MINUTE, THEN VIEWERS AND LISTENERS 
WILL BE RETURNED BACK TO REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING.

THE NATIONAL EAS IS A PUBLIC ALERT AND WARNING SYSTEM THAT ENABLES
THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES TO ADDRESS THE AMERICAN PUBLIC
DURING EXTREME EMERGENCIES. HOWEVER THIS TEST WILL NOT USE THE
PRESIDENT`S VOICE.

AS THE FEDERAL, STATE, TRIBAL, TERRITORIAL AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
PREPARE FOR AND TEST THEIR CAPABILITIES, THIS EVENT SERVES AS A
REMINDER THAT EVERYONE SHOULD ESTABLISH AN EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
KIT AND EMERGENCY PLAN FOR THEMSELVES, THEIR FAMILIES, COMMUNITIES,
AND BUSINESSES.

THIS EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM TEST WILL NOT, REPEAT, NOT, BE BROADCAST
ON NOAA WEATHER RADIO AND WILL NOT, REPEAT, NOT ACTIVATE NOAA
WEATHER RADIO RECEIVERS.

HOWEVER DUE TO THIS NATIONAL EAS TEST, THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED NOAA
WEATHER RADIO ROUTINE WEEKLY TEST WILL NOT TAKE PLACE ON WEDNESDAY,
NOVEMBER 9TH AND INSTEAD WILL OCCUR ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH,
BETWEEN 11 AM AND 12 NOON, WEATHER PERMITTING. IF SEVERE WEATHER IS
EXPECTED ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH THEN THE TEST WILL BE CANCELLED
FOR THE WEEK. ALSO...THE SECOND ROUTINE WEEKLY TEST THAT IS NORMALLY
HELD ON WEDNESDAY EVENING BETWEEN 6 AND 8 PM WILL BE CANCELLED FOR
THE WEEK AND THEREFORE WILL NOT TAKE PLACE ON EITHER THE EVENING OF
NOVEMBER 8TH OR 9TH.
