Do you have a home weather station?

Send your weather data to the National Weather Service!

If you have a computer compatible home weather station, your data could be used by the National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office in Melbourne.  Home weather station observations are currently being imported into the Central Florida ADAS Mesoscale Model Analysis Program.  Forecast data is displayed on the NWS Melbourne Web Page.  Your data could also be viewed by the hurricane forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami and can be incorporated into large scale computer models run by the NWS Center for Environmental Prediction.

How do we know if your data is accurate enough to be useful?  You can register with  NOAA Forecast Systems Laboratory (FSL) and they will run your data through a quality control routine.  This will allow FSL as well as you to keep track of your data over a period of time.

HAM RADIO / APRS Systems

If you are a licensed radio amateur you may relay your weather station data to the NWS via packet radio, see basic requirements.

Internet / CWOP Systems

Non-amateur radio observers can also relay their home weather station data to the NWS via the internet, see basic requirements.

So, if  you have a home weather station, chances are we can use your data.  We are particularly interested in stations in rural areas, especially in Okeechobee and southern Osceola counties.
